What: ANZAC Day Commemorations including marching as part of the National Veteran's March following by a time for reflection with mates

Where:

     Veteran March - Australian War Memorial (AWM)

     Post-march gathering - The Mecure Hotel, Ainslie (formerly known as Olims)

Timings:

Phase 1 - Dawn Service. Under own arrangements. Options include:

• 0430h - ADF members commence reading excerpts from the letters and diaries of Australians who have experienced war first-hand
• 0530h - AWM Dawn Service and live broadcast commences for individual driveway services.
  Broadcast can be heard or watched via ABC TV, ABC NEWS channel, ABC iview, Radio National, ABC Local Radio and on the ABC listen app from 5.30am (AEST)

Phase 2 - National Veteran's March

• 0900h     RV at AWM. Contingent Number TBA closer to the event
• 0930h     Veteran's March Commences

Phase 3 - Reflection post-march

• ~1130h   Reassemble at Olims, in the RAEME Room (AKA hte Limestone Room) near the bar.
• 1131h     Commence sharing stories of our mates or individual greatness  

Dress: Conservative dress (smart/business attire) with medals, honours and awards as appropriate

Cost: Self-funded

An invitation is extended to all current and past members of the Corps and friends of RAEME to attend our Annual ANZAC Day March & Function.

Flynn’s Irish Bar will open from 0630h on 25 Apr 25 and will remain open during and after the march. Flynn’s is a privately booked RAEME Function so please bring some form of RAEME Insignia/memorabilia (Cap, tie, tie bar, hat badge, collar dog, lapel pin, badge, patch, cufflinks etc to gain entry to Flynn’s). If you do not have any of these items please have someone wearing RAEME memorabilia vouch for you via security at the door.

Townsville City March - The RAEME Form Up Point for the Strand March is Strand Park at 0830h with the March stepping off at 0900h, don’t be late. Look out for our Tricolour Banner!

The 2025 parade will be held on Adelaide Street, between George Street and Creek Street. From the Governor of Queensland’s address at King George Square at 9:45am to the last marching participants at 12:25pm.

Current known information is

• RAQ are in Group 4, Serial 49
• FUP - We will gather at Section I and will form up on George St across from Mary Street. There will be a large teardrop (see below) to identify the position of the about half way along that block towards Mary St  Look for our Banner!
• Scheduled to march off at approx 1030hr
• Please make sure you are in place at least 30 minutes before this time
• Additional  information is at the RSL parade Committee Website

Any veteran that can no longer march is invited to take advantage of the jeeps driven by the owner members of the Military Jeep Club of Queensland or the golf buggies. Vehicles are inserted behind the relevant Ex-Service organisations listed on the Order of March to remain close to their peers.

In 2025 the event may still face restrictions to comply with the Event Planning requirements, however it will be conducted on the traditional route (see map) unless otherwise notified. Those veterans and citizens unable to attend are invited to watch the event on ABC TV and be assured that the Parade participation and spectator opportunities are reviewed as we approach the event.

Post March Function

We will again be hosted by the Port Office Hotel, who open on ANZAC Day specifically to cater for us. Information is on our Website, and tickets are now available. 

Please note: This is a private RAEME function and a ticket is required for entry.The Port Office Hotel will be open from approx 1030h and the Buffet Meal will be served from approximately 1200-1400h on the day.

The good news is we have confirmed the post March Brisbane function will be held at the Port Office Hotel. The private RAEME function at the Port Office will be open from 1100h and the Buffet Meal will be served from approximately 1200-1400h on the day.

Feel free to gather/sit where you are comfortable. To enter prior to 1400h you will need to purchase a ticket. This is our most popular event of the year and we strongly encourage you to pre-purchase a ticket as the simplest and easiest way to attend. Pre-purchasing gets you into the event.

Exchanging Tickets for Entry/Drink/Meal Vouchers

If you have Pre-Purchased tickets, the best option is to print out your E-ticket and bring it along on the day. It will be exchanged for:

• 1 x Priority Entry
• 1 x Meal voucher for a hot Meal
• 2 x Drink vouchers

If you cannot print your ticket or forget to bring it, we will have attendee lists available to check, however this may delay entry to the venue.

The Port Office Hotel will be open from around 1030 hrs. Drinks will be available for purchase using either a drink voucher or purchased across the bar. The Buffet Meal for those with Pre-Purchased Tickets will beserved from approx 1200-1400 hrs.
